Discover Special Interest Activities In Cyprus

Welcome , Kalosorisate, to the magazine which will keep you informed each month about forthcoming events in Cyprus and which, we hope, will inspire you to participate either actively or as a spectator.
Our aim is to contribute to the economic, social and cultural progress of Cypriot society and the enrichment of its quality of life through facilitating greater access to sport and the arts and preserving our cultural inheritance.
Our key objective is to promote Cyprus internationally as a preferred sport tourism destination: we believe that we can enhance the profile of sport tourism and increase public awareness both at home and overseas.
What, exactly, is meant by sport tourism?
Sport tourism is any activity in which people are attracted to a particular location as a sport event participant, an event spectator, or to attend sport attractions or business meetings.
Over the past decade a large number of top class football teams have been coming to Cyprus for their pre-season training. These include Ipswich Town FC (England), AIK (Sweden), AC Sparta Praha (Czech Republic) and FC Dinamo Moscow (Russia). Climatic conditions in Cyprus are ideal for training periods, with ample sunshine and minimal rainfall.
The existing solid infrastructure meets the demands of the most intensive, professional training programmes while the sandy beaches of Cyprus are an ideal place for footballers to build up their stamina.
While football is close to the hearts of the Cypriot nation, our island has centres of excellence for the entire spectrum of sports.
We specifically aim to highlight forthcoming sporting and cultural events in advance in order to allow ample time for interested groups to plan and arrange their stay in Cyprus and to keep the residents of Cyprus fully informed.
Sport tourism is one of the fastest growing and most intriguing of modern-day service industries.
Driving the growth of sport tourism has been increased global interest in sporting events as a result of the massive expansion in satellite and digital television coverage over the last 10 years. Combined with more leisure time, more disposable income and more cheap travel, this has meant that sport is no longer just an ‘add-on’ for travellers - it is the entire reason to travel in the first place.
